Making a glass case using an A4 sheet of paper to make a template.

How to make a glass case using an A4 sheet of paper to make a template.
Actually it can be used for anything - pencils, pens, make up etc.

Very quick, very easy, but looks super cute and would make a great gift. Use character or special fabrics, or make them plain with embroidery etc.

These are so quick to make. They take just a few minutes to complete.

Materials: Make the pattern. Start with a piece of A4 cardstock (paper will do, if no card available)

Fold in two lengthwise. Then round off the corner at one end.

Open the pattern and measure 3.25 inches from the bottom and draw a line across, or place markers. From that line measure 6 inches and draw another line.

Use the template to cut the fabric. Cut the same in fusible fleece, and fuse to main fabric.

Also cut a piece of lining fabric, same width as the main fabric and 7 inches high.

Place the main fabric over the template and fold the fabric at the 3.25 inch mark. Then overstitch close to the edge. First fold made.

Take the main piece and place it again over the template, this time matching the top carefully.

Then holding the fabric where it has been folded and stitched, bring it up to the 6 inch mark. Second fold made. That should leave a 1/4 inch piece at the bottom, from where the second fold is. (Will be used to stitch the lining to at the bottom)

Pin the pieces of fabric together.
Place the lining over the folded fabric, matching the bottom edges carefully.

Turn it over to make it easier to place the pins.

Pin and place markers to leave a gap for turning. Then sew a 1/4 inch seam allowance, leaving a gap for turning. Try not to sew the folded bit.

Sew around the rest of the case, following the rounded shape at the top, using a 1/2 inch seam allowance and trim.

Turn the case round through the gap. Push out the corners carefully.
Pin across the turning gap. Sew the gap. This can be done by hand for a neater finish, but I have just done mine at the machine.
Turn again the right way so that the part with the gap is now on the inside. Press and place a cam snap and the case is finished.

How cute is that!
